Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • To find the best rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • First, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Dogs OK! 3BR\/Bonus Room - Ocean Front! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast destination you love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
