Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book the rightvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. New! Updated Villa in Emerald Isle, near the Point has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
