Downtown Beaufort is a short bicycle ride away if you want to bring your bicycles or rent from a local vendor. You can also bring or rent kayaks to launch in the Beau Coast community pond or on Taylor's Creek from the Beau Coast community dock.

Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Beaufort rental home:

  • To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick the right Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • First, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beaufort Retreat, with pool, pickle ball, clubhouse, resort amenities has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
