Strategies to get the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the best Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Dark and Stormy, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
