How to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Crystal Coast vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing the perfect Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. License to Chill, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
