Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Family affordable & close enough to all the fun stuff! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
