Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Incredible Views - Magnificent Sunsets\nI Little Piece of Heaven\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast beach you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
