Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your Crystal Coast vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best vacation home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Emerald Isle OCEANFRONT 4 BR 1\/2 Duplex - watch dolphins from the deck! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
