How to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the bestrental home:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Dune Alright, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
