Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dune Alright, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
