How to book the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to book a Crystal Coast rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Crystal Coast area. To get the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Crystal Coast rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Dogwood Treehouse in Pine Knoll Shores, NC has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
