Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the Crystal Coast area. To get the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Tranquillis East, Almost Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your trip.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
