Crystal Coast rental home booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Broad Street Living- Sleeps 6: 1 story Bungalow w\/ fence - two blocks from water has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast destination you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
