Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Blue Whale, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
