Our top Rental property booking tips:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Blocks to the Beach! Huge Patio & Fenced-In Backyard. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
