Booking the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing the best Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Suits Us Too - 3BR, 2BA - soundside in Emerald Isle! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
