How to book the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your Crystal Coast vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Attitude Adjustment, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
