Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

When to book a Crystal Coast rental home & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Booking your Crystal Coast vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 5th row from ocean, open floor plan, spacious bedrooms, fenced yard w\/ swing has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
