Our top Crystal Coast vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Water access tiny cabin, kayaks, dock, fire pit, gazebo, grill, fishing, boating has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
