Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Crystal Coast trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the best rental in Pine Knoll Shores:

  • First and foremost, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Clean, affordable, and a short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
