Strategies for getting the perfect Crystal Coast rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Crystal Coast vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. HOT SUMMER DEAL! CAN'T STAY A WEEK? 3 NIGHT MINIMUM, YES EVEN IN THE SUMMER!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
