Our top Crystal Coast vacation rental tips:

Finding your best deal:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Summer Winds B-133, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
