How to get the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking a perfect Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Historic Alston-Charlotte Cottage in Downtown New Bern! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
