Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 3BR- Dogs OK- Ocean Front - Master Suite has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
