Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Crystal Coast area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose and book the bestrental:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Newly built in 2024 Stunning Oceanfront Coastal Retreat has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
