How to book the best Crystal Coast rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 3 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
