Tricks and tips for getting the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Hear and See the Sound of the Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
