Strategies for getting the perfect Crystal Coast rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Crystal Coast area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. First-Floor Condo with Balcony, WiFi & Shared Pools, Hot Tub, Tennis, Putt-Putt has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Crystal Coast destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
