Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Wonderful Third-Floor Condo in Oceanfront Complex w\/Shared Pools & Hot Tub, WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
