Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Family friendly studio with sound, beach, and pool access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
