Tips for getting the perfect Beaufort rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental in Beaufort:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Down East cottage with views of Ward Creek has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
