Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • To find the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Charming dog-friendly home near beach with central AC & W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
