Tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the best vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Woody Cottage, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
