Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Booking your Crystal Coast vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book the right Crystal Coast rental:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Woody Cottage, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
