Strategies for getting the perfect New Bern rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Crystal Coast rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Water View 1 Bedroom Townhome with Loft. has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
