Our top Crystal Coast rental booking tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing the perfect Crystal Coast rental:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Spacious pool view 4BR townhome, short walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Advice for your stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
