Vacation rental booking tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sound Of The Sea West 402, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
