How to find the best Beaufort rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Shell Cottage DOG Friendly in Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
