Crystal Coast vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. SeaSpray 354, Oceanview Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
