Tips and Tricks to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking your Crystal Coast rental:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pebble Beach A-301, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
