Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental home & When to go:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Crystal Coast rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the best vacation rental in New Bern:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Our Getaway Two has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, contact the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
