How to book the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Our Getaway Two has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
