Beaufort rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Otter Banks Retreat- Sound Front Home in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
