Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the best Crystal Coast rental home:

  • First, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront high rise condo, centrally located in Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
