Tricks and tips to get the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
