Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 6 Bedroom Beaufort Waterfront Paradise! On the water with dock and 2 boat lifts! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
