Booking the best vacation rental experience:

When to book a Crystal Coast rental home & When to go:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Book your Crystal Coast vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to pick the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Lazy Days, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
