Years ago, when I was looking for a home on the island I came across this property. When I walked up the front steps for the first time, I entered into a relaxing little wonderland. Set up high on a sand dune surrounded by trees, this property is the ideal calming hideaway. Set smack dab in the middle of town, it is walking/cycling distance to nearly everything in Emerald Isle. It is 1 block from the sound and about 7 blocks to the ocean.

Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose and book the best Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Island Treehouse has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
