Tips for getting the perfect Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. High Cotton Cottage has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
