Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Soundside Sunset-Gorgeous Soundfront Condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If not, contact the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
