How to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the best vacation home:

  • Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. SeaSpray 214, Oceanfront Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
