Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick a perfectvacation home:

  • To start, have your group select a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Goodnights - Oceanfront 4BR 2BA Emerald Isle has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
