Tips to get the very best Crystal Coast rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Choosing and booking the perfect Crystal Coast rental:

  • Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Dock Holiday, Oceanview House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
